Development Opportunities

Principal development opportunities in the project area include both general commercial and tourist commercial possibilities. Due to its location at the primary vehicular entry point into California and its setting on the Colorado River, the eastern portion of the area is a prime location for both tourist and recreation facilities. The county is promoting development of the Marina area for uses such as boating, camping, dining, and hotel/motel and related facilities.

The western portion of the project area provides opportunities for commercial development on presently vacant land and opportunities for the rehabilitation of existing commercial and residential infill opportunities which could coincide with the construction of the new state correctional facility in Blythe. Major water main improvement is underway along Interstate 10.
