The North Shore Community Sub-Area is located on Highway 111 along the north edge of the Salton Sea. The redevelopment project area contains approximately 54 acres of underutilized and vacant lands.

Businesses in the project area are limited to tourist-type commercial uses, many of which are vacant or showing signs of neglect and disuse. Other uses in the area include a fire station and vacation homes. A nearby state park facility is attracting substantial tourist activity to the area.
